Smarter Driving
What is Smarter Driving?
Smarter Driving is a series of proven techniques which can help to reduce fuel consumption, make for safer driving on
our congested roads and reduce carbon emissions.   Tried and tested over years across the world, these
easy-to-learn techniques can benefit almost all drivers regardless of experience and can provide real cost savings in
terms of fuel. The average amount saved is £250.
What happens on a Smarter Driving training course?
The training lasts for an hour and consists of 2 basic parts.   Following introductions, you will drive a
pre-determined route in your normal driving style during which time the fuel consumption and average speed will be
measured.   We will then chat a little about the principles of Smarter Driving and you will drive the same
route again, this time being coached in those Smarter Driving principles.   Fuel consumption and average
speed are again measured and compared to the initial results to see the savings you could make.
Can't I learn this by just reading about it?
Probably, but if you're anything like me you will be skeptical about the benefits.   I know I was, until I
actually saw it in action for real.
How much does it cost?
The course costs just £25, which should be easily covered by the savings you will make as a result.
Furthermore, as a show of my commitment to and belief in the principles taught, I will waive the fee for the course if
you can better my fuel consumption over the same route that you drive.   When you have completed the training
you will a certificate detailing your possible savings and Smarter Driver car sticker.
Will you be judging my driving?
We all think our driving is good and don't like the idea of anyone watching what we are doing and judging it, me included.
Yes, I will be watching because I can't help if I don't.   No, I won't be judging it or you.
I'm not in the slightest bit interested if you cross your hands on the steering wheel or leave your hand on
the gear lever.   It's really not important in the grand scheme of things.   I'm simply going to try to
help you cut your fuel costs by following the Smarter Driving principles.
Why should I do Smarter Driving training?
Nothing says you have to.   However, if you want to cut your fuel bills and be safer on the roads then you should
think about it.   It really does work!
